Claire started swimming with OSSC in the Novice Competitive Program when she was 8. She swam for two years in the Provincial Competitive Program, after which she moved to the National Competitive Program. Claire currently swims on Coach Steph’s 13-15 FINA Team. Claire participated in OSSC’s Coach in Training program as an assistant coach for 2 years. This past fall she began as a lead coach in the recreational program where she enjoyed coaching Aqua Stars. This spring Claire is excited to be lead coaching a 9-10 Novice Team. She likes watching young swimmers grow through sport and develop life-long skills and friendships. Claire has her Bronze Cross and has successfully completed the Swim Synchro Introduction to Competition Course.
Happy 2017 from OSSC. New recreational synchronized swimming programs are available starting in January for athletes ranging from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 6. Registration will be coming soon. Click here for more details.
Today is International Volunteer Day, so it’s a good time to pause and thank ALL OF THE OSSC VOLUNTEERS for what you do personally to advance to sport of Synchronized Swimming in Ontario, Canada, and beyond.
While it’s dangerous to try to cover everyone because of the risk of forgetting someone, we’d like to thank these groups in particular:
Thank you to those who make a choice to spend their valuable time to help with the advancement of the Olympium Synchronized Swimming Club.
Thanks so much to Olympians: Karine Thomas (Synchronized Swimming) and Alexandra Orlando (Rhythmic Gymnastics), for making the 2016 OSSC Pub Night fundraiser such a success. Everybody appreciated your inspirational dialogue about the journey from local athletic clubs to the international stage of the Olympics.

This year the Olympium Synchro teams really got into the Halloween spirit. After a gruelling but satisfying Synchrothon, all of the athletes were able to unwind at the annual Halloween synchro party.
It seemed like everybody was there: the full cast of Super Mario Bros., superheroes, flowers, witches and Dr. Seuss characters – the party had it all. Rey, from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (opening in December at an IMAX theatre near you) even showed up.
Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped with the Synchrothon and the Halloween party – it was a great success. But more importantly, thank you to the athletes who raised money in the morning and rocked the Halloween spirit in the afternoon.
Aqua Squirts Coach
Sophia joined OSSC five years ago in the recreational program. After a year she joined the Provincial stream in the 11-12 team. She joined the Coach In Training (CIT) program because she loves teaching and enjoys helping young children develop their synchro skills and being part of a team. She is now coaching Aqua Squirts on Saturdays.
